Last year, on our anniversary, we went on a fun trip to Hawaii with my wife and our kid, Alicia. We spent our days enjoying the sunny beach, swimming in the beautiful blue ocean, and relaxing by the infinity pool. And, of course, we had lots of yummy drinks. Alicia loved most of it, but she wasn’t a big fan of sitting still at the restaurant for our evening meals. So, we’d let her play with my phone to keep her happy. She’s really good at finding her favorite videos on YouTube to watch.
But here’s the thing about Alicia and the phone: she gets a bit upset when a notification pops up and stops her video. One evening, while she was watching something, a message came through on WhatsApp from our family group chat. Instead of just getting rid of the message, she somehow ended up opening the chat. There were pictures being shared of a new car someone bought, and Alicia, maybe trying to join in or just by accident, started sharing our vacation photos with everyone in the family group.
Most of the photos were okay, but a few were a bit embarrassing to have the whole family, including our grandparents, see. I only found out what happened when my cousin called me. I quickly grabbed the phone and deleted the photos, but the cat was already out of the bag. Everyone had seen them.
That day, I realized maybe I should find a special camera app for those more private moments that I don’t want to accidentally share. It’s not like I can keep Alicia away from my phone; she loves watching her videos too much. So, I’m on the lookout for an app that keeps our photos just for us, without sending them off to the cloud where they might get shared by mistake.
